Dealing with Head Lice using Tri Nature Zeolites and Phosphates
By now, most people have heard that phosphates are not good for our waterways or the planet. But what do you know about Zeolites? Most people seem not to have heard of them at all.
Without getting into the science (because I am not a scientist) zeolites are what many laundry product manufacturers have replaced phosphates with.
Tri Nature products do NOT contain zeolites because their chemist, Brian McLean, uncovered scientific evidence that suggests zeolites are worse for the environment than phosphates.
Further, The Phosphate Report, by Bryn Jones (once a director of Greenpeace who led the worldwide campaign to eliminate phosphates), is based on environmental studies which compared the before and after situations in the waterways. This report found that there was little difference in terms of the damage done by phsophates or zeolites.
Zeolites were found to have caused a foaming of the waterways and mutated aquatic life. Given that phosphates can be removed from the water, unlike zeolites, it actually made them preferable for certain countries. So much so, that Switzerland revoked the no phosphates law and reintroduced them (with conditions).
Either way, neither phosphates nor zeolites are ideal for our waterways. It is disappointing that many commercial brands, including brands that claim to be eco friendly, have simply substituted zeolites for phosphates without doing their reseach .
I recommend checking if your favourite brand is up to scratch.

Essential Oils Sunburn Recipe

Here’s how Tri Nature can help minimise or eliminate Eczema, Psoriasis and Dermatitis.
The quick and dirty on which Tri Nature products I have found that work for specific skin irritations.
Psoriasis on the head, back of neck and behind ears
Tri Nature Daily Care Shampoo and Daily Care Conditioner for those who like to wash and condition. These have helped either significantly improve or completely clear up scalp psoriasis for many of my customers. This S&C contain Chamomile and Marshmallow which can be very nourishing for the scalp and soothing for irritations. They do not contain soap, SLS or anything else that may cause irritation. The Daily Care S&C are suitable for all hair types of all ages.
For anyone who is a wash and condition in one sort of person, the Tri Nature 2in1 Shampoo Conditioner is perfect. It contains Rosemary which is extremely beneficial for the scalp. The 2in1 also does not contain soap, SLS or anything else that may cause irritation and is suitable for all hair types of all ages.
Eczema/dermatitis on hands:
- Tri Nature’s Handwash is full of coconut oil and is very moisturising. It doesn’t contain soap, SLS or any other chemical nasties so will not dry your hands. Use it all the time if possible (take some to work) and put it on neat at start of day to act as a barrier against dirt/oil/etc.
- Tri Nature’s Sanitising Hand Gel is full of vitamin E so won’t strip your hands. This product is very popular with nurses and childcare workers and if you have to use an Antibac gel, this is the one to use;
- Chamomile Dishwashing Liquid won’t take the natural oils out of your skin but it’s still tough on grease and dirt. It contains chamomile (which is very soothing and healing) and marshmallow extracts (works to actively bind broken skin).
- Soothing Lotion should be used as a daily (or more often) moisturiser. Containing Chamomile and Lavender to soothe and heal the skin, I have used this successfully on eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, nappy rash, heat rash and even to take the itch out of mozzie bites. This cream is light, so it still lets the skin breathe. And a little goes a long way.
Babies/Toddlers/Children
Babies, Toddlers and Children with dry skin or eczema/psoriasis/dermatitis may benefit from:
- Baby Bath and Soothing Lotion as chamomile and lavender (in both products) are very soothing and healing on the skin.
- An alternative to the Soothing Lotion is the Baby Massage Oil which also contains chamomile and lavender as well as coconut oil, jojoba oil and other natural oils.
If the child showers instead of bathing, use the Baby Bath as a body wash.
If there is a lavender allergy, use Chamomile Dishwashing Liquid instead of the Baby Bath. This is what many customers successfully used for years before baby range was released. Follow with Body Moisturiser.
Rashy skin in elbow joints and behind knees or on stomach
Use the kids body washes. If they bath, put some in when water is running to make bubbles. If they shower, a half to one pump on a soft body loofah is more than enough to wash whole body. The body washes will last a really long time as long as parents are responsible for dispensing them. Follow with Soothing Lotion to help clear up and prevent symptoms, or Body Moisturiser if there is a lavender allergy.
Teens with rash on the face or neck
It could be caused by shampoo, conditioner or skin products. For anyone prepared to commit to a skin routine, the Tri Nature Kyphi Skin Care range is excellent. Contact me for more information.
For those who will not stick to a skin routine, try Gentle Face Wash as a face cleanser and Recovery Gel to follow for soothing skin. The aloe and green tea extracts in this make it ideal for skin irritations, sunburn, burns, etc. I have also used soothing lotion on my face and my kids faces but keep away from eye area, just to be on the safe side. Replenishing balm for eye area works well (e.g. eyelids).
Eczema all over the body
I highly recommend Tri Nature Laundry Products and body washes. It is important with the laundry products, to finish or throw out whatever you are currently using, descale your machine thoroughly and then only use tri nature. The fillers and extenders from other products build up inside your machine over time. Tri Nature products loosen them and flakes may come out during the wash with Tri Nature. Descaling the machine will clean out any existing build up and ensure this does not happen. Using only Tri Nature will ensure no further build up in your machine in the future.
Tri Nature laundry powder has no fillers or extenders, it is a 100% concentrate and it dissolves completely in water and rinses away. There is nothing in it to irritate the skin, so there are no phosphates, nitrates, zeolites, chlorine, bleaches, petrochemicals, etc. It is the reason I use the products and has made a major difference in my life as well as that of hundreds of customers. Plus, it’s cheaper than most other brands!
There are several options for body washes. For people who like smells, there are luxurious shower balms in assorted scents (remembering that all smells are made from plants and essential oils, not synthetic perfumes). For those who prefer a more subtle fragrance, you can use the Tri Nature Handwash on your body.
It is loaded with coconut oil so is moisturising for the skin and totally suitable as an overall body wash. For extra sensitive skins and people who prefer no smell, Gentle Face Wash. It is also suitable as a body wash and scent free.

How to use your Tri Nature Starter Pack
Alpha Plus Laundry Powder As the products were created and are made in the Hunter Valley in NSW, all directions are for hard water areas. So with the laundry powder, you only need to use half of the suggested amount on the back of the pack: - In a top loader you need one full scoop per wash only.
- In a front loader you need half a scoop per wash only.
This may not seem like enough if you are used to supermarket brand quantities but Tri Nature powder is a 100% herbal concentrate with no fillers or extenders so every little grain is active and working to clean your clothes.
Fillers and extenders from previous products can stay in your machine and come out during a wash cycle with Tri Nature’s powder. In order to get the best results from, I recommend you finish off whatever else you have, descale your machine before you start using Tri Nature and don’t use anything else once you start.
If you don’t have any descaler, you can run an empty hot wash with the recommended dose of Tri Nature’s laundry powder. This helps to clear out any build up of fillers and extenders from your machine from previous products but it won’t be as effective as a good descaler, such as Maxim.
Similarly, vinegar may have an impact on calcium and limescale, but it will not breakdown any build up on fillers and extenders. Additionally, many modern machines are made using plastic and rubber components and vinegar will, over time, break down and destroy these parts.
Supre Mulitpurpose Cleaner
This is your Spray N Wipe replacement. Spray it on, leave it for a few minutes and then wipe it off. It is safe for use on all surfaces, even caeser stone.
When you are ready to reorder Supre, purchase the concentrate and a commercial grade polyspray bottle and dilute it down yourself. This makes it much more cost effective to use at only $1.07 per 500ml bottle!
Enhance Pre Wash Spray
This is your Preen replacement for spraying on spot stains before putting them in the wash. I spray my kids’ clothes as soon as they take them off and often leave them for up to a week before I get the chance to wash them. As there are no petrochemicals in Enhance, I have not had any issues with it ruining my clothes when doing this.
I find if I get the spray on the stains the day they happen, and rub it in a bit, most stains vanish before my eyes!
When you are ready to re-order Enhance, purchase the concentrate and a commercial grade polyspray bottle and dilute it down yourself. This makes it much more cost effective to use at only $3.71 per 500ml bottle!
Sphagnum Moss Disinfectant
This is your Glen 20 replacement. It kills mould and inhibits regrowth so it is a great idea to spray it around the bathroom each day after a shower. It will slow the regrowth of mould which means less cleaning for you! You can also use this in the air and on surfaces to kill germs and odours.
When you are ready to reorder Sphag Moss, purchase the concentrate and a commercial grade polyspray bottle and dilute it down yourself. This makes it much more cost effective to use at only $0.57 per 500ml bottle!
Moisturising Handwash
Tri Nature’s handwash is loaded with coconut oil so it is very moisturising. It is gentle enough to use as an overall body wash with a pH of only 7.5. You can put it on neat before gardening or working on the car and it acts as a barrier. Tri Nature’s handwash is ideal for people with dermatitis of the hands or dry skin. No soap or SLS means it won’t strip your skin of its natural oils.
Once you have finished your Handwash, keep the bottle and purchase a 1L, 5L or 20L refill and save!
Chamomile Dishwashing Liquid
Tri Nature’s dishwashing liquid is filled with chamomile and marshmallow extracts so it assists with actively healing broken skin and soothes your hands while still being tough on grease. You only need 4ml per sink load so 1 pump is enough.
As with all Tri Nature products, there is no soap or SLS in the dishwashing liquid. SLS is used in most supermarket brands to make bubbles and to make the bubbles last longer. Bubbles have no bearing on the effectiveness of a product, they are just bubbles.
You may find Chamomile dishwashing liquid does not bubble as much as you are used to but please be assured that it is still active and effective. Once residue from other products is removed from your sink, you will find it bubbles more.
Chamomile dishwashing liquid also makes a safe and gentle bubble bath for children with sensitive skin.
Once you have finished your Chamomile Dishwashing Liquid, keep the 500ml bottle and purchase a 1L, 5L or 20L refill and save!
